The group count with state-of-the-art infrastructures and facilities available at UAM Campus, in the Faculty of Sciences and at CIAL Institute.

Healthy Lipids Group at UAM is provided with modern extraction instruments, such as a Pressurized Liquid Extractor (PLE or ASE, Dionex), microwave and ultrasound assisted extractors, including high intensity sonochemistry, and a new Supercritical Fluid Extraction plant combining different processes.

Among analytical techniques, it has a set of instruments of liquid chromatography with different detectors (two HPLC-DAD-ELSD instruments, Varian and Agilent with autosampler, one of them also semipreparative) and Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS Agilent), that allow the exhaustive characterization of substrates and reaction products.

The group also has research labs equipped for enzymatic reactions. The laboratories have thermostatic orbital shakers for enzymatic reactions and the usual equipment of advanced chemical lab: rotary evaporator, centrifuges, oven, shakers, ultrasound baths, etc. For further experiments, two unique Pilot Plant installations at UAM and CIAL-CSIC are available, including Molecular distillation, Scale-up reactors both chemical and enzymatic, and Microencapsulation by spray-drying.

Furthermore, the group has established collaborations for several years with other research groups belonging to International Excellence Campus, that allow to use other advanced techniques when needed.

Moreover, the research group have full access to common installations of UAM, like Central Services (Interdepartmental Research Support Service, SIDI), with instruments and techniques that will be used in the present project. This UAM service is provided with advanced Mass Spectrometry instruments, MALDI, LC/MS with several ionization techniques (ESI, APCI, FAB) and analysers as TOF, Quadrupole, Q-TOF, and also, electronic microscopy (SEM and TEM), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), preparative chromatography, etc.
