Expert in enzymatic engineering and green extractions-characterization of value-added compounds. Responsible of lab maintenance, paper-work, students guidance and slightly obsessed with cleaning and order (don't ask my colleagues). Willing to do research stays abroad.  What else? Microbiology lecturer, microalgae (and chocolate) lover and self-proclaimed exclusive traveler. Dog mum in love with my nephew and niece and passionate about seasonal sports such as scuba diving and ski.

Dr. Cristina Blanco

Junior postdoctoral researcher

cristina.blanco@uam.es

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Green chemistry and lecturer in Health Sciences. My research lines are focused in analytical and extracting chemistry applied to bioactive compounds combined with pharmaceutical nanotechnology to safe-by design new products. In my time off I am a traveling soul, I like to try the rarest food and connect with nature on long walks. I also love painting and reading mystery novels.

Gonzalo Berzal

PhD student

gonzalo.berzal@inv.uam.es

I studied Food Science and Technology and the Master in Novel Foods at the Autonomous University of Madrid. My PhD thesis focuses on green extractions of DHA-rich oils with subsequent fractionation and enzymatic modification steps. I am from Segovia and in my spare time I like to innovate in the kitchen and, from time to time, try my hand at home brewing beer.

Olga Pomares

Research associate

olga.pomares@estudiante.uam.es

I am a biotechnologist with a MSc in Novel Foods. Currently, working on enzymatic modification of fatty acids omega-3 with the aim of obtaining new products with potential benefit to human health. Out of the lab I really love spending my time enjoying the spanish gastronomy, hanging out with my friends, travelling, and applying TV programm's castings without any answer, maybe its a hint to be focus on my lab issues?

Marta Díez

Research associate

marta.diezr@uam.es

After a few years I have finished my studies and finally I can say that I have a degree in Food Science and Technology with a MSc in Novel Foods.
My current research is based on microalgae extractions with green solvents.
I love playing tennis or any sport. Also, like most people, I like to travel and get to know other places, cultures and gastronomy. Futhermore I enjoy to go hiking in the mountains and enjoy the landscape, and if I can take some good photos to make you envious, much better.

Recently incorporated to the lab with a collaboration grant.

I’m student of Food Science and Tecnology, in the last year. Also, I’ve studied International Bacculereate in Madrid.
I’m really curious and hard-worker. That’s why I think I like being in the laboratory.

In my free time I spend most of my time with my friends and family, doing any plan. Discovering restaurants or traveling are my favourite ones. I’m volunteer monitor too, in an association with kids and teenagers where they spend their free time playing and going to camps.

Positions are open for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and undergraduates, contact us for more information!
